Remember last week when I said that we were really looking and praying for poeple to teach? Ya well, the Lord ALWAYS provides a way and this week we found more poeple to help and teach then I ever have in all of my mission! Wow I know that the Lord really does prepare the way for us to fufill our mission! My Favorite new investigars are Maylin (from peru) and Fabio (columbia) and their baby son (who was born here and thus the only real chilean in the lession : ) ). They had talked with some Elders about 3 weeks ago and the Elders had promised that we would come visit them, only the address we had, in all of the confusion got changed (we thought it was 503) and we werent able to find them. But two days ago we where on our way to a Less active member who lives in the same apartment complex as Maylin but in 514 but I acidently said 513 to the lady at the front desk. She called the family in 513 and they said to come on up. When we realized that this Door said 513 and not 514 we were so confused, why would the people in 513 tell we could come in, we´ve never talked with them. But we knocked and imedatly the women inside welcomed us in and talked as if she knew as. It took as a coulple minutes to but all of the peices togeather, but when she started talking about those ¨brothers¨ that had promised her we would come we knew that we had found Maylin! Even when were not a whole tone to work with the Lord makes due : ) Truelly ¨´the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them. ¨´(1 Nephi 3 7 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/3.7?lang=eng#6 )

Hello All!
I LOVE my sector here in Santiago! There is so much energy, and the people here are actually a lot more willing to talk and listen! We have had many, many miracles with the other members here. Really that makes ALL the difference! We didn´t get to teach a lot, but we had so many run-ins with less actives, members, and people on the street, with whom we could share our testimonies!
This week we really tried to find new people to teach, but we have one family that was being visited by the last sisters too. They are Carlos and Celia (Dad and Mom), Estefiny, Caraima, and Carlita (daughters and one is a less-active member). They are so sweet and humble! They moved here from Peru (there are more Peruvians than Chileans in our sector :) ) about 2 years ago. They have a lot of problems within their family, and we are working hard to help them make and achieve goals -Together! We also started teaching this older lady, who lives with her two grandsons; one of which is..........a pro wrestler (SPELLING when you fight people for money) Yup :) pretty cool right? They have a lot of potential and were excited to see them progress! The other grandson doesn´t believe in God, so were looking for ways to help him see God in his life! This week Elder Nelson from the 12 apostles came to talk with us!!!! It was amazing! I learned that more than anything we need to trust in the Lord: ¨Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.¨ (Proverbs 3:5) and when we do, well, watch out world, because we can´t fail! I learned this week that trusting in the Lord doesn´t mean you will have all the success in the world, but it does mean that you will be Happy! I pray that you all can trust a little more in Christ this week and feel just a little bit more of his joy! Sed de buen animo!!! Hna Fullmer My Joy is Full
Wow! What a week! MARIA GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really, truly could not have been happier! We have worked and loved and worried that she could feel the Spirit and know that she is 100% clean and ready to start over for Christ! I cannot describe how it feels to see the hand of God in the lives of those we love and serve. I read this scripture in Alma 26:11, and it perfectly described what I was feeling: I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God. This is said by an amazing missionary in the Book of Mormon. I testify that this is the potential that we all have! I remember reading this my first transfer and thinking, I would give anything to know I had been the instrument in God´s hands. I can honestly say now that I am not the best missionary, with all my heart I wish I was better, BUT I KNOW I have seen miracles. I know that God has led me, I know that I have helped people that only I could help, BUT I do not ¨I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.¨(Alma 26: 12). I just feel grateful, truly grateful, and I will Praise his name forever for what I have seen and done, only in and through his direction and force. SED DE BUEN ANIMO, never let it get to you! You will always be led if you pray, and when we work with God, we are promised that he will never ever let us fail! I testify the truth of this and promise that we are never alone, never left friendless. Sed de buen animo, Hna Fullmer PS We had transfers and now I am in Santiago central , but with Hna McCoard still : ) Till next time : ) So we have been in our house the whole week: ) Hna McCoard Almost went crazy : )
I have been learning So much, as we have had lots of time to think and read together. This week I am focusing on finding answers from the Lord then moving forward with faith. I honestly have no idea what the coming week will bring. But I do know that If we keep our view on the Lord, Putting him first he will not let us fail! I shared one of my favorite scriptures with Hna McCoard this week Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the HolyGhost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart. 3 Now, behold, this is the spirit of revelation; behold, this is the spirit bywhich Moses brought the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dryground. (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/8.2-3?lang=eng#1 D and C 8 2-5) I know that God with Help us through every step, Put your chin up and smile through it : ) Sed de Buen Animo! Hna Madi Fullmer Due to emergency transfers I´m in a new sector! With a new companion! I have had a few small problems with my knees and so has my new companion Hna McCord, so we are together for two weeks to rest and we’ll be right back out in two weeks more!
I adore Hna McCord! So here in the mission if you are one of the trainers (you are trained for 12 weeks) of a new missionary you are there ¨mother¨ on the mission. And as luck would have it, Hna McCord´s other ¨mother¨ was my sister (we had the same ¨mother¨ or trainer) So Hna McCord is really my niece : ) we joked that she was spending summer break (its summer here) with her aunt : ). I realized that I really am not happy if I´m not helping someone in a significant way : ) So I am so happy to be here with her, I get to help her with her knee and talk out her problems. And though I am happy to be here, it was hard to give up my sector, my little flock that God gave me. I was very sad to leave Maria especially because she will be getting baptized this week. But I am 100% positive that I am in Putaendo with Hna McCord for a purpose. I have a testimony that we have the ability to be the tool of God in every situation. I know there are things that she needs to hear that I can tell her. I want to leave you with my favorite scripture. I know that whatever happens to us is part of this plan that God has for us. I testify as a representation of Christ that We all have divine potential and we have all the help of God to get us there. It does not matter where we are in the path just that we keep on WALKING and when we can´t walk any further: Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed. (Doctrine and Convenants 123.17) https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123.17?lang=eng#16 Sed de buen animo Hna Madi Fullmer This week has just flown by!
This week I really learned to just follow the spirit! As a missionary you always feel pressure to be in the right place at the right time, and sometimes you get caught up in that and forget to just listen : ) The spirit talks with a voice small and quite you can´t hear it if your busy worrying. Where there is Fear there is not faith. Well that’s something I really struggle with. How do you let go of that fear? I haven’t mastered that part quite yet but I think it has something to do with listening to the spirit more. I know that the spirit will always guide you but you have to have faith that God will make you strong enough to listen: ) This week Maria has been smoking half of what she had been!!!!!! We are just so very happy for her! We are still praying to find a way to share with her daughter too, but the last lesson with her daughter was in the kitchen (she bakes cakes in addition to her other job, so she couldn´t sit down with us) But we got to teach a lovely lesson on temples and how we can live with our families FOREVER : ) and I know that she was listing the whole time. I hope the spirit touched her heart! Today we Got to go the feria (Farmers market type of thing) with our Chilean Grandparents : ) It was a blast! I love you all, remember to keep your chin up! I know that God Will Not Let Us Fail! Sed de Buen Animo! Love, Hna Fullmer All Right! This week was way fun!!!
First off we had Conference!! Woot woot!! I loved all of the talks they were all sweet and uplifting but my favorite was Pre. Eying, and Sis. Marriott! Here is the link for Sis Marriott. I loved when she said that Truth is light and that we all have truth within us! We all have the ability to shine and share with others! Everyone has something worth sharing: ) https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/10/sharing-your-light?lang=eng Update on Maria!! She is coming right along she is really making progress with her smoking problem! She was smoking a pack everyday but she decided to smoke one less everyday (1 pack mines 1, then 1 pack mines 2) She is doing it, but always needs your prayers! We love visiting her and hearing her humble prayers! And Carlos (her special needs brother) just melts our hearts: ) He loves to listen when we talk about God and after always plays his guitar for us (He can only play one note but I think it’s just lovely : ) ) It is spring here in Chile so the streets are full of flowers.... which I love : ) Whenever I can I pick them to put in my scriptures. But you have to be careful that they don´t belong to someone.... well I was really excited about some flowers which I thought didn´t belong to anyone when the lady in the house in front of me told me to ¨What there for a min!!¨ I was worried I she would be angry at me for picking a flower but then she went into her house for like 5 mins. I started to doubt that she had even been talking to me when she ran pack out with a bag of seeds!! Yay! I love that Chileans love flowers as much as I do : ) Best contact ever : ) Keep on keeping on and enjoy the flowers that fall in your path!! Sed de Buen Animo! Hna Fullmer Ps this was my scripture of the week! We shared it with Maria and she LOVED it : ) What a week!
Guess what we broke two windows!! So our house has a little room that has been added on, and in this little room we have a washer machine (yes washer machines are a big deal : ) ). But the door to this little room used to be an outside door.... note that Chilean doors do not have door knobs you just open it with the key..... As we were finishing up laundry Monday I closed the door behind me thinking I would conserve the heat in the house, only to realize 2 mins. later that I don’t have a key..... Yup, so we are in this little room with no key, no phone and no way to get out. First thing we do, Laugh until we cry, 2. PRAY 3. Survey the room 4. Pray 5. Decide that our only option is a window that leads into our room (not this used to be an outside window so there are bars) and measure my waist and head. 6. PRAY 7. Hna Carr BREAKS the window 7. Pray 8. Hna Carr literally shoves me through the window, which really would have worked if not for the extra weight I have obtained around my waist due to the quality and quantity of bread in Chile 9. Pray 10. Find out that the little window in the door is not plastic 11. Pray 12. Break the second window with LOTs of faith 13. I put my hand through the window and unlock the door 14. Celebrate with chicken nuggets and Nutella with tortillas In the end we were in the room for about 2 and a half hours. haha It was a great bonding experience and honestly it was a blast : ) Hna Carrr will never forget her trainer On a more spiritual note we made tons of progress with Maria! Who is the best Chilean grandma in the world! We have been working on teaching her how to understand the Book of Mormon more. She has a huge desire to understand every word but it’s not always easy for her. As I was thinking about what we could teach her. I realized If every blessing is dependent on your obedience to a law, we’ll all we need to do is find the commandment that promises us more knowledge and teach it! So we taught the Word of Wisdom, this is the commandment about what things we shouldn’t put in our bodies. When we follow this law we are promised more a clearer mind and more understanding. I am so excited to see her progress as she learns to live this law! I know that God will give her those promised blessings! And....... her daughter makes empanadas sooooooo we have 6 empanadas in the fridge just waiting to be cooked: ) I know that God Guides us! I could feel his help while we were locked in that room and as we taught Maria! I am praying for you and hope you can see his hand in your life! Sed de buen animo!!! Hna Fullmer PS don’t forget to watch General conference! This is a great opportunity to learn from a prophet of God! Big news! Hna Carr and I are going to stay together for another transfer (6 weeks)!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very happy to be able to be her companion for more time! We are just having a ball together!
Happy 18th of September!!! This is the Independence Day in Chile, but it’s not just 4 July in Spanish! Imagine 4th of July for 4 days (were getting closer) but now imagine the amount of food as thanksgiving (almost there) with all kinds of games ranging from kites (they adore kites) to catch the pig (live pig mind you) rolled in oil : ) And that my friends is 18 in Chile : ) And we worked right on through it... or tried to : ) As in no one has time to talk to us and THERE IS NOT A SOUL in the streets! But 19 we got to go to a ward party for the day! It was so much fun! We ran and played games and ate and everyone under the age of 20 tried to teach me how to cartwheel...... I now still don´t know how and every part of my body is sore including my pride: ) This week we found Requilme! She is so prepared! She is a little older (60?) and lives with her brother. She told us that she has been missing something in her life and that she felt like she was in a boat in a storm. We got to share Ether 12 4 which has great imagery about boats. Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God. I testify that each and every one of you can anchor in Christ and in that hope he offers us!! He is at the door we just need to open it! This week I finally realized the importance of the sacrament! (that bread and water we receive during church). I tell everyone that I meet that through the sacrament we can be 100% clean and forgiven but I don´t think I have ever really felt that. But during church this week I was worried, there are just so many things I did wrong or didn´t do, but as I partook of this sacrament those words I had told so many people came back to me and I knew that I had been truly forgiven for those things! How amazing is that?! I have so much gratitude for the love and forgiveness that Christ has for us! Hna Carr and I are READY to rock! I just know this is going to be a Transfer chuck full of miracles and success! Sed de buen animo! Hna Fullmer |
