ME VOY!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope it was a magical for you as it has been for me! I couldn’t have picked a better spot to spend it then in Simon Bolivar! I really loved seeing people progress during this season! Not to mention I got to talk with my family Christmas day through Skype!

I especially loved seeing Francisco progress! I don’t know if I have talked about him before, but he is a friend of one the members in our Ward and is Amazing! He is making huge changes in his life (giving up drinking, changing his relationship with his mom and son)! And the only thing he really wants is to make those changes with his mom. So he asked us to stop by and share something with his mom! She is great and open to learn but just wasn’t about to change from day to night. Buuuuuuuut guess who came with Francisco for church… his mom!! She always thanks us for the huge change she’s seen in her son : ) She loved church and fit right in, and I’m was so excited to visit her again this week until……. The President of our misión told me that I will be leaving my area!!! I am more than a little sad… I really truly LOVED my sector and the people in it! But I will still be in the same Ward (congregación), and I will be serving as a Sister trainer leader! This means about twice every week, I will be traveling to spend the day with other sisters to help them and learn from them! I will switch places with their companion who will be learning from my companion for the day : ) It is a wonderful opportunity to forget more and more of myself and focus on the other sisters : )

With the family Rojas things have cooled down and they’re in the south of Chile (grandma and grandkids) to spend some time with other family [members]. Things are not perfect, but they are getting better : )

I know that when we have confidence in the Lord, we will find confidence in ourselves. It is so much better to be happy and helpful than to doubt yourself! I know God lives and that he loves you and me!

Sed de buen animo!!

PS we went to the Zoo today!!!!!!!!! Man, I just love the zoo!! My poor companion, I’m sure, was a little embarrassed about how excited I was : )

I love you!

Feliz Navidad all!!!!!

I hope it’s been a good one filled with family and friends! But also with the love of Christ! We had a wonderful Christmas devotional in my stake (a group of about 5 congregations in one area), and there we listened to a beautiful choir. For the first time, I thought to put myself in the story. I imagined how Mary felt as she traveled days on the donkey or how Joseph felt when he realized there wasn’t anywhere to stay. But how much joy they must have experienced together when it all worked out, and they held their son and Savior in their arms. This is a video of the Nativity. My invitation for you is to watch it and imagine what it would be like to live it!

I know that Christ lived, that he died but rose the third day. I know that more then I know anything else.

So, do you remember Cristopher that I talked about the last week. Their mother just left them with their Grandmother. They are torn apart and prayers would be amazing : ) Thank you!

This week we started teaching Francisco! He is a friend of Groerge (a less active member who is preparing to baptize his son). So we had the grand idea of teaching them together!!! It was just wonderful! And Francisco is so ready to change his life. He told us about how he hasn’t drank in almost 2 weeks, and he is choosing to avoid places where he know there will be drinking : ) But best of all, he accepted a baptismal date for next month!!!!!!!!! When we left, Greorge walked with us outside where we all gave lots of high 5’s for the prayers that had just been answered : )

I love you all!

This week I've been striving to think and love the way Christ would. If Christ wouldn{t be worred about something I try to let go of that stress, If Christ would do it I try to trust in him and just do it! This has been super helpful this week and I have been able to see more of what he sees in us  and feel more of the love he feels for us! As we strive to become more like him I know that we will recive peace, and confidence like it says in John 14 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
One of the Recent converts we{ve been working with is named Cristopher. who just turned 12. When we first got here everyone including his mom and Grandma (he and his brother were raised by their Grandma) told us that though he looks super sweet that he is really reboulos. Well Hna McCoard and I were not ready to believe that! And the first time we meet him his Grandma started telling us all about how he leaves the house and she never know were he goes. Well we looked him strait in the eyes and told him that we don{t know one thing about his past and he has a whole new start with us! And you know what he is the sweetest kid I have ever meet. He just wants to love everyone and he just needs someone to be his friend. We soon realized that the reason he always sneaks out is because there is always contention in is house. We also learned that he had been cutting his wrists. But everytime we see him he has a big smile for us and in the church he is just so happy and content. I have seen a HUGE change in him as he finds this peace in Christ. I realized yesteday as we had a couple mins. to talk to him that we are really truely saving his life. A lonely kid in santiago... well thats not the kind of life Christ has planned for us we have way more potential than that! I am so grateful to help Christ help him. To help Christ help him reach his potential and to live a life full of joy and faith. This work isnt about numbers or attendence this work is about saving souls.
I pray that you all can be the diffrence in someones life : )

CHILDREN, CARRS AND PIZZA

Hello all!! This week flew!

This week we had to go downtown for the two days to finish up paper work for Hna McCoard’s Chileano ID, which meant......... I got to spend two WHOLE days with Hna Carr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was over the moon when I realized she had to fill out her papers at the same time! I have really missed her, and it was such a treat to talk to her again! She’s has been learning a lot with her new companion in her new sector, It hasn’t been easy, but I love seeing her grow and learn!

We have started to teach two boys (8 and 9) who’s fathers are returning to the church and are working really hard to be worthy to baptize their children! It is a fun new challenge to teach kids : ) because their fathers are still working on becoming active in the Church, we are really teaching them too! It has been a real blessing to see Good men striving to be Great men! I am really grateful to be apart of their journey back : )

A few days ago a member from our ward gave us pizza for lunch. Hna McCoard just about died when she realized that one was corn pizza and the other asparagus (SPELLING? that green veggie that is like a stick with an afro on top : ) ) Hahaha that is super typical Chile : ) If it’s in the fridge, it’s going in the food : ) I just adore them!!

I have been studying a lot these past couple weeks about the Atonement of Christ. How hard it is to apply this forgiveness and love for yourself! Sometime we want to be better so much that we totally forget about what we have done. I think that we are much stronger than we think we are, and God loves us much more than we know. Hold on to that hope even when you can’t believe it; just hold on until you can feel it : ) Know that I love you and am praying for you!

Sed de buen animo!

PS. We went to a beautiful Cathedral today, and I was just soaking it all in. The stain glass, huge painted doors, the art, and the nuns; I mean how cool is that! That is until I noticed my companion nervously looking at the door..... woops! I forget that normal people might feel awkward being missionaries chillin’ in one of Chiles largest Catholic churches : )
