Yes we lost to Brazil Saturday in a tie breaker, though we had to stay indoors during the game we could hear the cheers and boos from inside our house. : ) They don´t mess around with football here! Needless to say, everyone we talked to was very subdued this weekend.
On the up side we have found some AMAZING people to teach! Right now, we are helping a women named Joana. The mother of Joana is an inactive member of the church and we knocked on her door looking for her mother. But I know God sent us there for Joana! She is about 35 and has two daughters (8 and 14). They are very humble and have to deal with problems every day that I never thought much about, like having money to pay the light. They are a sweet little family and need more comfort in this life and I am happy to be able to show them where they can find it! We taught them the Plan of Salvation, this is a lesion all about where we came from, why we’re here and where we go after this life! When we were done I asked Joana how she felt in this moment, having heard God´s plan for us, she replied, Calm and peaceful. Before my mission I did not understand how badly people need to feel those things, especially when they are struggling to pay for the lights or dealing with recent deaths in the family, all while leading a family (they are trying to cope with both!) and to top things off Valentina sang me songs from Frozen and Joana couldn’t stop giggling at how excited I was about this : )
This week we traveled to Santiago for my Chilean ID!! This meant lots of lines, buuuut also that I got to see Hna. Nielson (a dear friend from the CCM) and Hna Ibarra my first companion!! We got very lost in the city more than once but loved every min! Hna Nielson and I are both are still pretty new and struggling with Spanish, but together we got to talk with a man from Columbia, and both of us talked much better than we thought we could! It was fun to see so many different types of people from all over the world! I LOVE the city!!!
This week I have been working hard on keeping up my excitement! Hna Ceccon has been struggling a little bit. And I have become the Cheer leader for our companionship: ) This is one of the scriptures I got to share with her this week D&C 123 17
17 Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed.
Utmost... I love that word! Our faith can become unshakable and though we are weak and imperfect our faith leads us to trust in the Lord´s work and his word! I can testify that God will provide. When we Forget we are having a hard time we relice that it isnt so hard when we forget that we are sad we became happy : ) Smile! It will all work out just fine! Life isnt as hard as we make it!
Love you all!
